Encouraging physical activity and other healthy lifestyle choices is important here at Happy Hearts, and we are able to emphasise this value through exploration of the natural world and outdoor play. Outdoor play is an educational opportunity that encourages children to consider learning as an ongoing process, rather than something that is limited to a classroom environment. In addition, outdoor play helps children develop their fine and gross motor skills, as well as their critical thinking and appreciation for the world around them.
Weather permitting, we often take the children to Holland Park. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the space, use outdoor equipment and continue our discovery about the natural world. Trained Forest School teachers help the children learn from the natural surroundings, while guiding their developing knowledge of how we respect the environment.
Our Forest School sessions provide a sensory, child-led experience, where our children can play, develop their physical coordination, and experience space and movement. One key benefit of the Forest School programme is that it can boost your child’s self-esteem, as they become more competent problem solvers, and learn to assess and take appropriate risks.
